Old People Night
A couple of years ago some of our counselors got together and came up with a combined boys & girls junior village activity called 'Old People Night'. It was a new event for our community, and the staff were very excited about the idea - it's always good to try new things at camp! The event was a hit, and we've continued it ever since. Once each session the junior boys and junior girls get together for an evening of musical chairs, bingo, eye & hearing exams, debate circle, shuffleboard, and a dance party... all of it in slow-motion, dressed as 'old people'. It's a hilarious sight, and the kids get a kick out of making believe that they're old. It's also very funny to see what they imagine 'old' looks like... I've attached some pictures to this post, but it basically consists of canes and walking sticks, walkers (dining hall chairs), lots of powder in hair, heavy misapplied makeup, pants pulled up to belly-buttons, slippers and housecoats. It's become one of our most creative nights, filled with costumes and play-acting and music and games. I love it when the kids really get behind a new activity, and this one is very entertaining for everyone involved! The question is, do we really look like that to all of the kids? ;)

See you around the flag pole!
