Camp Mason's 2010 Annual Fund
Charitable giving is the lifeblood of Camp Mason. Contributions from members of our community help to offset the costs of our programs and operations. These gifts also allow us to provide financial assistance (camperships) that allow deserving children to participate in our day camp and sleep-away camp programs.
“I can’t begin to tell
you how wonderful camp is. When our
daughter needed it most – Camp Mason was there for her. And just when
our family really needed it –
help was truly there for all of us.”
YMCA Camp Mason is a 501(C)(3) organization; gifts are tax-deductible to the extent of IRS regulations.
Gifts may be designated in a number of ways. You may donate to our campership fund – your gift will be used to help provide a camp experience for a child in need. You may earmark your donation for program equipment (or a specific piece of equipment). We also accept gifts to the Camp Mason Endowment Fund. Earnings from the endowment help defray our operating expenses. Alternately, you may simply designate your gift to be used where we feel it will be most beneficial to our organization.
Each year our staff and volunteers conduct the Camp Mason Annual Fund Drive. Our 2010 goal is $90,000. One aspect of our campaign is our personal pages. Our staff, trustees and other volunteers have each developed their own fundraising page and a personal goal. We’re always looking for additional members of our community to assist with our fundraising efforts. If you would like to develop your own personal page, please contact our office.
In-kind Gifts
Camp Mason operates twelve months a year and is, essentially, a “little city.” We annually spend more than $500,000 on supplies and equipment. An additional $100,000 is spent on occupancy costs such as electricity, fuel oil, propane and gasoline. Another $100,000 is used to pay for contracted services (maintenance-related projects, printing, accounting, etc.). The majority of our other annual expenses go toward personnel and benefits.
Our ability
to generate in-kind gifts of goods and services will allow us to save
significant dollars – funds that can then be used to improve our
programs and
enhance the quality of our facilities.
As you read through our comprehensive wish list, you may identify items that you possess and would be willing to donate to camp. Obviously, we’re looking for items of appropriate quality and with a suitable lifespan. Please contact us so that we can discuss a potential donation.
You may know of others who possess items on our lists. Or, you may be involved in a profession that might lead to a potential in-kind gift. For example, folks in the restaurant business may be aware of the availability of free or discounted kitchen equipment. If you’re in the printing business you may be able to provide free printing services. Frequently offices will update computers, copiers and other equipment and need to dispose of perfectly-usable items.
You may also choose to make a designated monetary contribution for a particular item. Please contact CEO Dave DeLuca if you have a specific interest and would like additional information.
